Sometimes I do wonder why they don’t sell The Sims Official Magazine in other territories because i’d be a regular subscriber! Nevertheless, Sims3Nieuws got a hold of some snaps of the March 2010 versions which celebrates The Sims’ tenth anniversary. If my translated version of their site is correct, it seems the edition comes with a free DVD of content including a cake to celebrate the anniversary. There also seems to be features on Create-a-World, a sim/real restaurant and also a valentine’s piece.

The Sims franchisee  of PC games is 10 years old by now, but it’s still sitting at the top of the charts. The latest version, The Sims 3, has been honoured the top-selling PC game of 2009 by the NPD Group, Chart-track UK and GFK.

The success behind the game is that it has kept gamers engaged with online content which is the most impressive part of it. EA has introduced some  growth and made some bold changes, yet much of this brave new world’s potential remains relatively untouched. Publisher of Electronic Arts declared that The Sims 3’s official website has received six million hits per month in 2009.

EA site is host to The Sims Exchange, which permits players to share and download content for the game, including clothes and decorations. Some of the content is released by EA, but some of it is generated by the community. EA claims that 100 million pieces of contents have been downloaded in the exchange.
Game publishers and developers have conjectured in recent years that micro-transactions like those are the future of the PC industry — that one-off $65 charges are going to be phased out for all but the most traditional hardcore games. It looks like The Sims 3 has enjoyed some success.

The Sims 3: World Adventures is the first expansion pack for the strategic life simulation computer game The Sims 3. The game was announced on The Sims 3 website in August 2009, with a North American release scheduled to November 17, 2009, to coincide with the release of Need for Speed: Nitro. The expansion pack focuses on traveling to 3 different areas as The Sims: Vacation and The Sims 2: Bon Voyage did previously, but in a new twist focuses on adventures over simple family vacations. At these new sim-inspired destinations found in China, Egypt, and France; Sims can meet Sims of different nationalities, hunt for treasure, and learn new skills. (more…)

A week after the official The Sims 3 release by Electronics Arts (EA) has been circulating the latest patch for the game simulation. Not a patch to fix the bug, but to make the Sims characters can appear without cloths.As cited from actiontrip, Friday (5/6/2009). The patch size is only 500KB now have started a few scattered sites in the game also provides download services. (more…)
